Have you ever wondered why my name sounds like a man’s name? Even if you didn’t, I did. But I didn’t much matter about it because it’s already given.

My name is Hamim. So when I was about 11 or so, I went through this book of names and meanings. I searched for Hamim. And there it is, Hamim means ‘teman setia.” I went through the pages and searched for `Ain. But there weren’t any result. I wondered why. I went back to the very first page. It was written “Maksud nama-nama lelaki” or something like that. HAHA! Joke eh? Yea, maybe. My name means best friend. Which is good. With a meaning like that, who cares if it’s a guy name or a girl name. Kan?

Why is my name Hamim? Ok, explanation begins. Daddy’s name is Satar. In jawi, there’s Sa and Ta. Abang’s name is Alif. Which is the first alphabet for jawi. Just like A in our alphabet song. And when it comes to me, parents wanted my name to be Mim. But my neighbour was being so fussy about it being too short and blablabla. So, daddy added Ha in front of Mim and bang! HAMIM! :) Ahaha.

That is the history of my name.

Want to know why I came up with this post after almost a year of blogging? It is because, in Akademi Fantasia 7, which is a very famous reality TV show in Malaysia, happens to have a GUY in it named HAMIM. Ahaha. I couldn’t stop laughing when I found out. I always thought I was different from the rest. Ahaha. Anyhow, since his name is Hamim, and it not only rhymes with my name, IT IS my name; please oh please vote for him. Type AFUNDI AMIM and send to 32999. Oh and please call me Mim from now onwards. Family calls me Amim too. Haih, that Hamim dude and I have a lot in common already! AHAHAH!
